Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Darwin Nunez was ‘never’ an option for AC Milan, despite the reports circulating suggesting otherwise.
Romano did state earlier this week that Milan have been offered the former Benfica man, who is deemed surplus to requirements. However, Al-Hilal always seemed to be the frontrunners given that they had no issues meeting the request in terms of transfer fee.
The journalist tweeted the famous ‘here we go’ regarding Nunez to the Saudi side yesterday. A verbal agreement has been completed between all parties over a €53m operation (plus add-ons). The former Benfica man will sign a three-year deal. A medical will soon take place, so Milan must look elsewhere.
Immediate rejection
Fabrizio Romano posted a video on his YouTube channel and he addressed the rumours that Milan were a possible landing spot for the Uruguay striker, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“Darwin Nunez, on the other hand [referring to Hojlund and Vlahovic], has never been an option for Milan. The Liverpool striker will join Al Hilal in the next few days for €53m. He was offered to the Rossoneri at the beginning of July, but the Rossoneri immediately rejected the option because it was too expensive.”
