Romano: Next six weeks could be crucial in determining Gimenez’s Milan future

1 hour ago 1

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Santiago Gimenez will be evaluated by the AC Milan management between now and January.

There has been a lot of noise surrounding Gimenez since the summer transfer window, when he was linked with both a sale and heading to Roma in a swap deal involving Artem Dovbyk. His performances on the field have not calmed things down since, however.

The Mexican striker does not yet have a league goal and is currently sidelined with an ankle problem that he claims to have been carrying for months. Amid the stories that Milan are looking at centre-forwards in view of the winter, this naturally leads to more speculation about Gimenez.

Romano’s update

In a video update on his Italian YouTube channel – in which he also spoke about the Joaquin Panichelli and Robert Lewandowski links – Fabrizio Romano commented on the future of Gimenez.

“We’ll see how and when Santiago Gimenez returns from this injury. Now there’s the break, so he’ll better understand when to return once he feels back in top form.

“But clearly, the next month, month and a half will be very important in understanding what Milan will do in January in terms of attack. As for Mateo Pellegrino, we don’t see a particularly hot name for the January transfer window.”
