AC Milan need a striker this summer, and Darwin Nunez’s name has been brought into the mix. However, action is yet to be taken.
This summer, just on numbers alone, Milan need to strengthen their strike force. From having a four-man unit last season, there is just one remaining, Santiago Gimenez. Of course, this means on that factor alone, someone else is needed.
When considering the Mexican’s lack of goals too – not a bad thing, considering he was acclimatising in a poor team – there is also a case to be made about his reliability.
Either way, another striker is required, and it is time for action.
Nunez or not
Dusan Vlahovic and Goncalo Ramos’ names have been brought up heavily in the past week, but there have been other options this summer. Nunez, of course, is one of them, and Fabrizio Romano spoke about the current situation, or lack thereof, on his YouTube channel, via MilanNews.
“There have been so many questions about Nunez in recent hours, so it’s important to clarify a couple of things.
“Liverpool’s asking price for Darwin started in June at around €65 million. This figure could clearly be reduced as the market changes, a market that hasn’t offered many alternatives for Darwin at the moment, other than Al-Hilal.
“Al-Hilal wants Darwin Nunez; there’s been contact in the last 24-48 hours. He’s a player highly regarded by Simone Inzaghi: it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached, not only financially but also on a technical level. There are contacts on the player’s side, and talks will be held with Liverpool soon. He’s asking for a high fee.
“Liverpool spent a lot this summer; Luis Diaz left, and selling a player like Darwin Nunez would be very significant in terms of costs. He wants and must leave, and Liverpool wants to find a solution for him. But the starting price was already in June at €65 million.

“As for Milan, there’s no record of any negotiations having begun. It’s natural for agents to talk to different teams, but as of today, we’re not yet at the point where we can guarantee that Milan have started negotiations for Darwin Nunez.”
