Romano provides further update on Lewandowski-Milan rumours: “Strong news from Spain”

Fabrizio Romano has provided a further update on the stories circulating which suggest AC Milan will try for Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski was first linked with Milan a few weeks ago, and after things went quiet the stories exploded again in the past few days. For example, Gianluigi Longari claimed that the Pole has ‘strongly emerged’ as a target for the Rossoneri in their search for a No.9.

His contract with Barcelona expires at the end of season, meaning he could be available for a low transfer fee in the winter or on a free next year. Then, Sport in Spain confirmed that Milan’s management have met with Lewandowski’s agent – Pini Zahavi – to discuss a potential opening.

‘Would be an extraordinary signing’

Romano spoke during an update video on his Italian YouTube channel and – after addressing the rumours in recent days – he once again shed light on the Lewandowski to Milan rumours.

“There’s some strong news from Spain, from Sport, saying that Milan want to try for Robert Lewandowski in January,” he began.

“What’s clear, guys, about this discussion related to Lewandowski, beyond the appreciation and the opportunity to bring a player like Lewandowski to Italy in 2026, which, regardless of age, as the case of Modric demonstrates, when you bring in a player of quality and mentality, clearly leaves room for entirely different types of discussions, in the sense that Lewandowski is one of the best around and therefore would be an extraordinary signing.

“But what’s clear is that even speaking to those close to Robert Lewandowski, the striker has no intention of moving in January. He doesn’t want to leave in January, he’s personally convinced that Barca can make progress in several competitions, including the Champions League, and end his experience at Barcelona in the best possible way.”
