Romano: Ramos prefers Serie A but wage demands may deny Milan movement

A defender arriving in January looks increasingly likely for AC Milan, but who that will be is another thing entirely. Sergio Ramos’ name has emerged, but can it happen?

After the Supercoppa Italiana, Milan need a defender, and it has been proven clearer than ever before. Unfortunately for Koni De Winter, the Belgian has not proven to be able to replace Malick Thiaw, as many had hoped.

So, another name is needed, for cover if nothing else.

Ramos’ issue

A Massimiliano Allegri defence is built on experience and effeciency, and adding an older name could bridge that gap. The idea of Thiago Silva returning was suggested as he filled those perameters. However, he has headed elsewhere.

So, instead of him, the Rossoneri could make a move for another experienced option playing in South America: Sergio Ramos. The Spaniard would be available next month, but there are a few issues.

As Fabrizio Romano states, via MilanNews, the most clear would be his salary demands. In Mexico, his salary was a large one, and that could not be matched in Serie A, especially not with the Rossoneri, who are trying to be more conservative with their spending.

It, therefore, seems unlikely that his experience will be enjoyed by the Diavolo. Even if Ramos would ‘look preferably’ at a move to Italy, it seems he would not consider lowering his demands, at least not yet.
