Roy Keane agrees with Gary Neville on Leeds vs Liverpool prediction

1 day ago 33

Roy Keane has thrown his weight behind Gary Neville’s prediction ahead of this weekend’s clash between Leeds and Liverpool.

The Reds have claimed just two wins in their last five Premier League matches, as the team's challenging title defense continues to spark questions about both the squad and manager. Arne Slot has found himself under intense scrutiny in recent weeks, with uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at Liverpool. The team's most recent outing saw a 1-1 draw against Premier League newcomers Sunderland, a team that has impressed this season.

The Black Cats have suffered only three defeats so far and have already taken points off Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

On the 'Stick to Football' podcast each week, the pundits divide into two teams to predict how the weekend’s fixtures will play out.

This week, Neville teamed up with Jamie Carragher and offered his prediction early.

“I think Liverpool will win, I’m going 2-0 Liverpool,” said the former Manchester United star. Keane, paired with Jill Scott and Ian Wright, interrupted to claim it was their turn first, backing a 2-0 prediction

Neville and Carragher later adjusted their scoreline to 2-1 in favor of Liverpool.

“Liverpool will concede, won’t they?” Carragher said. “Liverpool will go 2-0 up, and Leeds score one with five minutes to go.”

The pundit teams also forecast Manchester City’s clash with Sunderland, predicting 3-0 and 3-1 wins respectively for the Citizens. Pep Guardiola’s players have been closing the gap on leaders Arsenal, claiming victory in four of their last five matches.

Liverpool will be aiming to return to winning ways against Leeds

However, former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp predicts Liverpool will struggle against Leeds, doubting the Reds can secure a win on Saturday despite Daniel Farke's side being just two points above the relegation zone.

"Boy, did Leeds need that win against Chelsea, and so did Daniel Farke!" Redknapp told football betting site BetVictor, referring to Leeds' midweek victory against Chelsea.

"That, hopefully, will give everyone a real lift and show they do belong at this level. They showed plenty of fight against City, too.

"This will be a tough away day for Liverpool. They rescued a point (against Sunderland), but I can’t exactly say Liverpool were any better than they’ve been of late. I keep saying it, it’s just so easy to create chances against them right now."

Redknapp believes Saturday's game between Leeds and Liverpool will finish 1-1. He added: "I’m going for a draw, and that’s just because surely Liverpool can’t lose yet another game. They might, though!"
