Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim and his two Portuguese compatriots, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, have made a visit to Anfield to pay their respects at the memorial that has formed for Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.

The brothers were tragically killed in a car accident earlier this month, with tributes having flooded in from around the soccer community. Fernandes and Dalot both played alongside Jota for Portugal, winning the Nations League with him just a few weeks ago, and the pair were present for his funeral in Gondomar.

They laid a floral tribute at Anfield. "Rest in peace Diogo and Andre," a message from Manchester United reads. "With deepest condolences, from everyone at Manchester United."

Liverpool returned for pre-season action against Preston North End at the weekend, beating the Championship side by three goals to one. Jota and Silva were remembered before, during and after that game.

There was a minute's silence before kick-off. The match itself was then played with the Liverpool end providing a backdrop of Jota's song, especially in the 20th minute when it loudly rang around Deepdale Stadium.
