Manchester City star Ruben Dias and his girlfriend TV presenter Maya Jama have been left devastated after a 'gang' raided their £4m Alderley Edge mansion. Jewellery, electronics and clothes taken during the break-in, according to the Sun.

It's understood that the house was empty due to Maya being in South Africa to film the latest on Love Island All Stars, while Dias was playing in City's Champions League clash with Galatasaray. The centre back returned home at 11pm to discover the place had been ransacked so he called 999.

A source told The Sun: "They are devastated. The house is the first they have moved into as a couple and is very special to them. Thankfully, neither was at home, but they are very upset that their personal space has been invaded. They love the house because it is tucked away down a very quiet street with no passing traffic."

Speaking on Friday at Man City's press conference, assistant coach Pep Lijnders said: "We try to support him as a club of course. I haven't spoken to him personally.

"He will come back Monday in team training, these other things you don't want to happen. We will support him and let's see how it goes from there."

The couple's 6,300 sq ft house has landscaped gardens, a full indoor leisure suite including swimming pool, spa bath, sauna and gym. It has hi-tech security including a sophisticated zoned alarm system, CCTV and electric gates. It is also said that Maya and Ruben employ a security detail that help monitor the property's safety with random spot checks.

Alderley Edge is part of Cheshire's Golden Triangle and counts dozens of Premier League stars among its residents. A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 11.10pm on Wednesday 28 January, police received reports of a burglary at an address in Alderley Edge. Officers attended and found entry had been made to the property and a number of items had been stolen. Enquiries are currently ongoing."

The Mirror has contacted Maya and Ruben's representative for comment.
