Sacchi believes that ‘many things will be clear’ about Milan after Napoli examination

Arrigo Sacchi believes that the game against Napoli on Sunday night will reveal a lot about how much AC Milan have improved.

Milan welcome Lecce to San Siro tonight for the second meeting between the two sides early in the season, with a place in the Coppa Italia last 16 at stake. However, it cannot be ignored that everyone has half an eye on Sunday’s clash with Antonio Conte’s side.

Napoli have begun the season with four wins out of four in the league and they are the favourites to win the title again with the bookmakers. The pressures of European football remain an unknown force, and Conte has already begun some mind games about the squads.

Sacchi commented on Napoli’s 3-2 victory over Pisa in La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, and he was asked about who will push them closest in a potential Scudetto battle. MilanPress relayed his comments.

Who will Napoli’s challengers?

“It’s legitimate to wonder who will be the anti-Napoli team. Given that we’re only at the start of the season and, therefore, the situation hasn’t stabilised yet, I suspect the main rivals will always be the same: Juventus, Milan, Roma and Inter.”

Will Sunday be crucial to show how far Milan have come?

“Milan, who after their shock debut defeat against Cremonese have now won three consecutive matches, and most importantly, have not conceded a goal, must maintain their momentum and should be observed against top-level teams.

“Napoli arrive at San Siro on Sunday evening, and that will be the moment when many things about the season that has just begun will be clear. Will Modric and Rabiot’s Milan, with their well-protected defense and fluid midfield, be able to hold their own against what I believe to be, in terms of mentality and play, the most European team in Serie A: Napoli?”
