Sacchi praises Allegri’s tactical move and hopes for ‘entertaining’ Juventus-Milan game

Arrigo Sacchi hopes for an entertaining game between Juventus and AC Milan on Sunday night, and praised a tactical move from Massimiliano Allegri.

Milan have started the season well under Allegri so far, having won four out of five league games to put them top in the table, and having gained access to the last 16 of the Coppa Italia without any scares. However, the season is still long and there are many rounds to fight yet.

One of the toughest tests on paper is always having to go to Turin to face fierce rivals Juventus. Last season the Rossoneri were beaten 2-0 in this fixture, with goals from Mbangula and Weah sealing victory for the Bianconeri when Sergio Conceicao was in charge for the Rossoneri.

Sacchi spoke to La Repubblica in an interview that was published on the day of the game and he previewed what is a crucial early-season clash on paper. MilanNews relayed his comments.

What kind of game will it be?

“I hope it’ll be more entertaining than last year’s. I was at San Siro, next to Baresi and Massaro. It wasn’t a great show [the match on November 23, 2024, ended 0-0]. Both teams are enjoying a good run today.

“The Rossoneri are doing very well, Juve can improve, but the results aren’t that bad. I like Vlahovic, I hope to see him on the pitch.”

Can Milan win the Scudetto?

“It’s too early to make any predictions. Let’s wait a few more weeks, but the signs are positive. Allegri has been able to turn around a team that was coming off a difficult season.

“I agree with the choice of a three-man defence: it provides more protection. Modric and Rabiot have guaranteed a change of pace. We’ll see how Leao will fit in when he’s ready.”

Is Allegri leaving his mark?

“He’s an intelligent coach. I’ll be happy if he succeeds with Milan. We live in a strange country, where everyone thinks they know everything.”
