Saelemaekers says Milan are ‘ready and confident’ to bounce back against Lecce

Alexis Saelemaekers is playing from start in AC Milan’s attack this evening and just a few minutes ago, he spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s turbulent start. 

After the defeat against Cremonese, Milan desperately need to bounce back with three points against Lecce tonight. Anything other than a win would be a huge disaster, despite the fact that Max Allegri is dealing with quite a lot of heavy absences.

Saelemaekers is part of the starting eleven, partnering with Santiago Gimenez up front, and he was interviewed by DAZN ahead of the game (via MilanNews). He stated that the Rossoneri are confident that they can secure all three points.

On tonight’s game…

“We’re ready and confident we can improve on the poor match against Cremonese. We’ve worked well and are focused only on tonight.”

The Cremonese defeat…

“It was a shame to lose like that. We were sad and angry. We’ll have to improve what went wrong at San Siro, starting tonight.”

Saelemaekers has started the other games (Bari and Cremonese) as a right wing-back, so today’s role will be slightly different. That being said, he has played in more attacking-minded roles before and can certainly be a creative player, which is what Milan need.
