Alexis Saelemaekers has published a message on social media thanking Roma for his season on loan there.
Saelemaekers struggled a bit in the first half of the season but then rose to prominence Claudio Ranieri, becoming one of the best wing-backs in the league. He amassed 14 goal contributions (seven goals, seven assists) in that time.
Roma wanted to sign him permanently and began discussions, yet talks ended abruptly earlier in the month. The Belgian is now expected to stay with Milan next season, with Allegri taking an interest in him and keen to make assessments on his role.
Saelemaekers has now published a video and a long message on his social profiles to say thanks to Roma and their fans.
“What a thrill to relive all these moments. I started this year with so many goals in mind, but I never imagined I would experience so many emotions.
“At first, unfortunately, the injury kept me away from the field and from you… but my heart was always there, next to the team. I worked hard to come back, and when I did, I was more charged than ever.
“We dreamed together. We fought, suffered, rejoiced. And I want to thank my teammates, the club… and above all you fans for the affection, warmth and support you have given me.
“Thank you Roma. It was an incredible, unforgettable experience. And wherever I go, I will take a piece of you with me. Come on, I love you!”
