Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala believes that the deeds for the sale of San Siro to AC Milan and Inter will be signed next week.
It has been widely reported that Milan and Inter are expected to formally sign the deeds in the coming days that will transfer the ownership of San Siro and the surrounding area to the two clubs from the City Council.
That is phase one of the new stadium project, which foresees the construction of a new structure with over 70,000 seats and lots of development around it. However, there have been a lot of false dawns, so signatures must arrive to get things properly underway.
Earlier today, news emerged that Banco BPM will be the financial guarantor for the purchase. Sala spoke about the signing of the Grande Funzione Urbana deed at the commemoration ceremony at the Famedio in the Monumental Cemetery, and his comments are relayed by MilanPress.
When will the deed be signed?
“Maybe Wednesday. I’ll be away for the C40 meeting and will be back on Thursday, but I’m not worried. It’s clear that we all want to close this matter with the deed, so everyone is working on the weekend too.”
Why the delay from Friday?
“It was due to technical issues between the clubs rather than with the Council.”
Will the clubs keep supplying free tickets to councillors?
“It’s not in the agreement. The teams say they’ll provide free tickets to schools and communities; I don’t know about the councillors, but let’s start closing, then we’ll see these conditions.”
