Another Premier League club are now ready to challenge Tottenham Hotspur for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa in January.

Over the last month, Spurs Web has been keeping a close track on the speculation linking Aghehowa with a move to N17, which has continued to intensify.

It has been claimed by some sources that Fabio Paratici will spearhead Tottenham’s pursuit of the Porto man in the upcoming transfer window.

Aghehowa has a £87m release clause in his contract, but it emerged last week that Spurs can sign the Spain international for less than £70m in January.

Premier League club set their sights on Tottenham target Samu Aghehowa

Over the last few weeks, we have been hearing that Chelsea may be Tottenham’s biggest challengers in the race for Aghehowa, but another Premier League side have now seemingly entered the race.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are now monitoring the progress of the 21-year-old, whose stellar form has brought him to their attention.

The outlet claims that Eddie Howe is keen to bolster his forward line in January and has identified the Porto man as a target.

The Toon are now keen to take the Tottenham Hotspur target to St James Park, but it is revealed that they have no intention of paying the striker’s £87m clause.

What is Aghehowa’s stance on his future?

However, journalist Pete O’Rourke has now handed the Lilywhites and the Magpies a blow by revealing that the striker is not keen to leave Porto mid-season.

With a spot in Spain’s World Cup squad up for grabs, the journalist suggested that the former Atletico Madrid man may wait until the end of the season before considering a move to the Premier League.

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Porto are going good in the Portuguese league right now. They’ll be very reluctant to sell Aghehowa, and I’m sure the player himself is happy with life at Porto right now.

“He’ll be focusing on doing his best for himself and winning his place in the Spain squad for the World Cup. So I don’t see any move happening in January.

“Look, there’s a lot of interest in like Aghehowa, a top young player, still only 21, six-foot-four. He looks like he’s built for the Premier League. He’s got good pace, he’s a good finisher.”
