Sassuolo CEO confirms they are no longer interested in Milan outcast

Sassuolo’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that they are no longer interested in AC Milan outcast Yacine Adli, having completed other signings for the midfield.

Adli remains under contract with Milan, having spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, and the Rossoneri have been trying to offload him this summer. However, the 25-year-old has said no to most of the destinations.

Matteo Moretto reported earlier this month that Sassuolo had expressed concrete interest in the Frenchman. Milan were open to the move, of course, but Adli never really said yes to the destination and talks thus hit a stalemate.

As confirmed by the Neroverdi CEO, Giovanni Carnevali, they are no longer considering Adli as a target for the midfield. The signings of Aster Vranckx (former Milan man) and Nemanja Matic have been completed instead.

“Adli? “For us, it’s a dead end. We’re all set in midfield,” Carnevali told the media, as transcribed by Mediaset.

It remains to be seen if any other options will emerge in the final days of the transfer window. Milan are certainly hoping for it, even if Adli isn’t an expensive player on the accounts (around €3m). It’s a significant amount for someone who wouldn’t be part of the squad, though.
