Dejan Savicevic believes that Dusan Vlahovic is the answer to AC Milan’s issues in the striker role, but next summer rather than in January.
Savićević understands what it takes to win in the red and black shirt, having made a total of 143 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals across all competitions. He won a total of seven trophies with the Rossoneri, including the UEFA Champions League and three Serie A titles.
This season, Milan hope that they can get what would be an iconic Scudetto, the 20th to earn a second star. However, the Coppa Italia defeat to Lazio – in which five changes to the XI were made – has once again brought about doubts about the depth of the squad and the gaps within it.
Savicevic returned to Milan on Friday for the presentation of the Players’ Album at the Panini newsstand in Piazzale Lavater. A correspondent from MilanNews spoke to him, asking him about how his former club are doing.
Can Allegri’s Milan win the Scudetto?
“Milan will definitely fight for the Scudetto until the end, they’ve shown that so far. I think Allegri can fight, and as a Milan fan, I hope he can win the Scudetto. But there are also other strong teams, like Inter and Roma, who are doing very well.”

How do you see Leao as a striker?
“Allegri played him as a striker. I think he’s a player who thrives on the left flank. But he’s put himself at the service of the team: Milan needs him as a striker, and Allegri is playing him as a striker.”
Is this Milan missing a real centre-forward? Vlahovic or someone else?
“Not now because Vlahovic has had a serious injury. Milan need someone immediately, but Vlahovic in June yes. Right now, they need a striker who’s ready to play.”
Maignan, should he renew or leave?
“It all depends on him, he’s already proven to be a great goalkeeper. I’d like him to stay at Milan, but it depends on the management and his desire to stay at Milan.”
