Schira: Lazio star gives priority to Milan for summer move – talks continue over €20m deal

AC Milan are thinking ahead to the summer window, and they have identified their main target for the centre-back department.

Milan were linked with various defensive options during the winter mercato that has just closed, from Axel Disasi to Radu Dragusin. In the end, the management decided to keep things as they are, putting faith in Koni De Winter after a string of impressive performances.

The No.1 summer target

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the main target for the defence for Milan in view of 2026-27 is Mario Gila. Lazio owner Claudio Lotito wants €20m to sell the Spaniard despite the fact his deal runs out in less then 18 months, because 50% of the proceeds from the sale go to Real Madrid.

There has already been contacts between the parties, as well as meetings between CEO Giorgio Furlani, Lotito and the player’s agent. Gila has given priority to Milan over the other clubs that have expressed an interest.

It must also be remembered that the Rossoneri’s sporting director Igli Tare was the one who brought Gila to Italy from Real Madrid. Thus, it would be a reunion of sorts, and it remains to be seen what it would mean for the other centre-backs in the squad.
