Schira: Milan have ‘stepped up the pressure’ for Chérif – Bundesliga clubs also keen

AC Milan have once again stepped up their pursuit of Angers star Sidiki Chérif, but they face strong competition.

Milan could potentially make a second attacking addition in the January transfer window. While waiting to see Niclas Fullkrug in action fully and with Christopher Nkunku a target for Fenerbahçe, the management are firmly focused on Sidiki Chérif.

That is according to Tuttosport’s Nicolo Schira (via Radio Rossonera), who claim that the Milan management have ‘stepped up the pressure’ for the Angers talent. The scouts have repeatedly been at games to watch the forward, and they like what they have seen.

He is one of the top talents in Ligue 1 with four goals to his name at the age of just 19. Several Bundesliga clubs have already set their sights on him, although Milan are also very interested in the youngster.

It’s no coincidence that an initial meeting between the striker’s entourage and Milan’s management took place in mid-December. During the meeting, the directors reiterated that they have the intention of setting up a deal for the summer.

However, the physical issues of Santiage Gimenez (whose future remains uncertain) and the form of Nkunku have led Milan to make some evaluations for the immediate future. So, the name of Chérif must be kept under observation, both for the summer but also this month.
