Schira: Milan open talks over LaLiga duo as late right-back search continues

One of the areas AC Milan may look to strengthen before the window closes is the right-back position, and there are some ideas in Spain.

As a reminder, Alex Jimenez will soon become a new Bournemouth player after undergoing a medical with the Premier League side. It will be an initial loan with clauses for it to become a permanent deal, and this leaves a hole on the right side of the defence.

Reinforcements from Spain?

According to Nicolo Schira, Milan have opened talks with Arnau Martinez’s agent. The right-back could leave Girona for a price of around €10-14m, so he could be a name to watch in the final hours of the mercato.

In addition to that, Schira adds that Milan have asked information on Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez. Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada was at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium last Monday to monitor him during the game against Getafe.

Matteo Moretto, meanwhile, reports (via MilanNews): “Milan have also evaluated right-backs after the departure of Alex Jimenez. We’ll see if there are any opportunities. Yesterday a right-back was contacted in Spain, but due to costs and the formula, nothing can be done.”

So, it seems as though a late move for a right-sided defender could happen, while remembering that Joe Gomez can play there too amid talk a €15m deal is close to being agreed with Liverpool.
