SempreMilan turns 10 years old: A message of thanks from the team

1 week ago 58

Thursday 22 January 2026 is not just another ordinary day for us at SempreMilan. In fact, it is a rather significant milestone.

On January 22 2016, we published our first article on SempreMilan.com. The title was something that is a throwback in itself – ‘Sinisa Mihajlovic: “The lads have been perfect”‘ – but Iet’s face it is hardly a groundbreaking bit of news. The length of it? 391 words. From those humble beginnings, something big came over the next decade.

The first seed for the SempreMilan project was actually planted quite a while before that first article, and the story is rather interesting. Two Yorkshiremen and a Swede were writing about AC Milan in English. How on earth did that come about?

You can read more about how SempreMilan came to be in the origin story series we did on Substack. For now though, all we can say is thank you on behalf of each and every member of the team.

A comment from Co-founder and Editor-in-chief Oliver Fisher:

“So proud and grateful for the decade-long journey that we have had over at SempreMilan. What started as a passion project for myself and some friends has quickly grown into the biggest and best English-language community for a club we all love so dearly.

“It has brought together people from all corners of the globe – writers and readers – and we couldn’t be more appreciative for all of those people who have made the site and the brand what it is. Our authors, podcast hosts, graphics guy, developer, network and those who have dipped out along the way, you all played a big part in this.

“From recording podcasts in the bedroom at my parents’ house in 2016 to being in the press area at San Siro, it has been a path of toil but also immense satisfaction. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t stop and reflect on how lucky I am to do what I do, and how thankful I am to have met so many amazing people along the way.

“Of course there is always room for improvement, and we pledge to strive to always get better, with the help and guidance of the community we have created and take pride in calling our own. Grazie a tutti, and here’s to the next 10 years ❤️🖤”

A comment from Co-founder and Editor Isak Möller:

“I can only second what Oli said above. I’m immensely proud of what we have achieved since starting SempreMilan ten years ago to the day, turning our hobby and fandom into the world’s biggest AC Milan media outlet in English.

“Having the privilege of watching the Rossoneri’s games from the press box, both at home and away, has definitely made me realise the responsibility we have towards our readers and supporters. At the end of the day, you made this possible.

“In the next decade, I’m convinced that we will become even better and more tailored to what you prefer. It will be a long journey, but we have already made a lot of progress and I’m happy to say that we will be announcing some exciting features later this year.

“Grazie mille and Forza Milan!”

Finally, from out long-standing podcast host Anthony Torgrude:

“As SempreMilan.com reaches another milestone, I have been reflecting a lot on what the last decade has meant to me. What started as a fun idea on a whim quickly became something far bigger than any of us could have imagined. At the time, it was just a passion project. Over the years, it grew into the foundation of my career and played a huge role in helping me break into and climb within the sports industry.

“From launching a small podcast simply for the love of the game to watching it grow into a platform that could host some of the biggest voices in football, the journey has been incredible. Having the opportunity to host guests like Fabrizio Romano and interview former AC Milan owner Yonghong Li are moments I will always be proud of, and reminders of how far this project has come.

“Just as important as the professional growth are the friendships built along the way. Working alongside people like Oliver Fisher, Isak Moller, Madison Derian-Toth, Lorenzo Raffaini and so many others has been one of the best parts of this experience. These are lifelong friendships formed through shared passion, late nights, big stories and a love for Milan.

“Seeing the evolution of SempreMilan itself has been truly special. What began as a hobby and side project grew into a real global business with full-time employees around the world. Today, SempreMilan stands as the largest English-speaking AC Milan website and social community, which is a testament to the people behind it and the community that continues to support it.

“This is a celebration of how far we have come, what we have built together and what lies ahead. SempreMilan has shaped my career, created lasting friendships, and proven what can happen when passion meets opportunity.”
