Simon Jordan believes that Tottenham Hotspur is sorely missing Daniel Levy amid reports that the club faces the prospect of losing Fabio Paratici just as the winter transfer window approaches

Tottenham Hotspur run the risk of losing sporting director Fabio Paratici, a little over two months after he was reappointed to the role in North London.

Italian side Fiorentina are the one showing keen interest in the Spurs director, which is a significant blow given that the winter transfer window is about to open.

Tottenham are reported to have money to spend in January, and they will want to have Fabio Paratici at the helm, leading their winter pursuit.

Journalists, including Fabrizio Romano, have revealed that the Serie A side is confident of sealing the deal for the Spurs official.

Simon Jordan discusses Fabio Paratici exit rumours and Tottenham leadership

Speaking on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan offered a candid assessment of the situation, suggesting that the current setup at the club resembles the “blind leading the dead” following recent boardroom changes.

Addressing the potential departure of the sporting director and the state of the boardroom, Simon Jordan said, “I think it is the blind leading the dead. I think you have got a new ownership model in there, albeit it was part of the original ownership model.

“I think whatever people think of Daniel I think quite highly of him. I think he was a leader, I think there were definite structures in place under his guidance.

“I feel a bit sorry for Thomas Frank, I think that Thomas Frank would have been brought in under the auspice of Daniel and Paratici and they are both no longer going to be there I suspect.

“I think Paratici is most likely to go and then I think you have got a series of number twos – I do not mean number twos in terms of what you know – I mean number twos in terms of their ability to run businesses.”

Why Thomas Frank faces an unstable environment at Tottenham Hotspur

The former Crystal Palace owner further elaborated on the internal dynamics at the club, questioning the credentials of those now tasked with running the business side of the football operation.

He suggested that recruiting individuals who are better suited to supporting roles rather than lead positions is not the correct way to manage an elite institution like Tottenham Hotspur.

Regarding the support structure currently in place for the manager, Jordan added: “Running the football club from the guy that Daniel recruited as his number two, who is now running it, to potentially the guy that is going to be the sporting director who is a number two being recruited, and that is not the way you lead big football clubs.

“I think you have got a lot of noise from the new owners or the old owners that have taken a new position in terms of the funding of the football club, how ambitious they are going to be and how much money they are going to put in.

“Of course, these would have been the same people that had the intellectual capital to have changed Daniel Levy’s direction of travel because it is their funding that they probably did not make available that they are now saying they are going to.

“So it creates I think an unstable environment and I think it is not ideal for Thomas Frank to be in that environment, not because I think he should be given a pass because I think the top managers are going to have to learn to stand on their own two feet.

“But I do not think it is the environment and the support structure that is ideal for him, and I fear for him in that environment because I am not entirely sure that the new thinking is as appropriate for the well-being of Tottenham as people would like to believe it is.”
