AC Milan fan and tennis star Jannik Sinner spoke today about his dream Italian five-a-side team, and there were no shocks with some names.
In their history, Milan have had a number of high-profile Italians. After all, the club’s roots are deeply entwined with the Azzurri. Though in recent years, this has changed a little, with Matteo Gabbia and new signing Samuele Ricci the only Italian internationals in the squad at the moment.
Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri are keen to change this, though, and the latter hopes to build around the two internationals to restore the club’s DNA. When you look at the list of names who have come before them, it is clear to see why he would want this.

Speaking to BBC Sport at Wimbledon, where he is in the Round of 16, he was asked about his dream Italian five-a-side, and he listed a few familiar names.
“I would pick Gianluigi Buffon, Paolo Maldini. [How come?] Because it’s Maldini, I don’t have to give explanations always. Gennaro Gattuso, Francesco Totti, then Alessandro Del Piero.”
Do you think you could do a job in that team as well?
“No, no. I’m the bench warmer. I warm up the bench for them [he laughs].”
