Sinner quizzed on Modric’s tennis comparison: “One of the best in the world”

Luka Modric is someone who transcends AC Milan and just football, really. There are few people in sport like him. 

Everyone knows the quality of Modric, and if you don’t, it is easy to see it. Either through watching him or looking at his career, you can tell that the Croatian is one of the most elite sportspeople in history, and his Ballon d’Or cements it.

You can also then look at the fact that, even at 40 years old, he is still one of the best midfielders in Europe. For Milan, he has been phenomenal, and he is a big reason why the team are doing so well this season.

Jannik Sinner also knows a little bit about being one of the best in the world and winning things at the highest levels. However, he still admires Modric, and he was asked by Sky Sport 24 which tennis player the midfielder is closest to.

“My goodness, that’s a tough one !” he replied, before arguing. “Well, definitely one of the best in the world because he’s there: he sees moves that many other players don’t see. He’s very unpredictable, in my opinion. When he’s on the pitch, he can make some crazy moves.

“Maybe a little like Carlos Alcaraz in that respect because he has a great mentality, I’ve been told that mentally he’s incredible, he always works hard: so I’ll say him, but that’s an answer that not many will get along with,” Calciomercato.com relays.
