Sky: Allegri wants a ‘smaller squad’ – Okafor, Chukwueze and Musah can leave

While working on incomings, AC Milan must also work on some outgoings to thin out the squad, free up wages and perhaps generate funds too.

The sporting director Igli Tare will be operating and working on multiple different negotiating tables at once right at this very moment. However, the lack of progress has caused some fans to express worry about how ready the squad will be heading into August, the month that the season starts.

Countless right-backs and left-backs have been linked but none have arrived, while the same applies with strikers too. Ardon Jashari looked set to become the final piece of the midfield jigsaw too, yet that has stalled, so Milan’s mercato feels like it is stuck in neutral.

Allegri wants ‘a smaller squad’

Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews) journalist and correspondent Emanuele Baiocchini commented on the latest news and updates regarding Milan’s summer window. He stated that Igli Tare ‘has a lot of work to do’ one week from the team departing for their preseason tour.

“Priority is on the flanks. Alex Jimenez is the only player currently available, but something will happen on the right. From what we know, there will be a new offer for Guela Douè, around €20-25m,” he said.
