Sky: Genoa express interest in signing Milan striker as Pinamonti replacement

Genoa are looking at Lorenzo Colombo to potentially strengthen their attack, according to a report from Sky.

Colombo returned to Milan after a loan spell with Empoli during the past season, who suffered relegation to Serie B. The 23-year-old has had loads to Cremonese, SPAL, Lecce and Monza prior, so is reaching a point of crossroads regarding where his long-term future may lay.

Genoa want Colombo

After links with Parma in recent weeks, Sky (via Calciomercato.com) are reporting that Genoa are also closely monitoring Colombo’s situation for their attack. The Milan striker is coming off a position season with Empoli, where he amassed six goals and two assists for a team that struggled generally.

The Italian has been in the sights of the Ligurian club for some time and they have now enquired about the possibility of signing him. Genoa did not buy Andrea Pinamonti outright so he returned to Sassuolo, and a replacement is sought.

The Grifone therefore join a long list of Serie A clubs monitoring the Colombo opportunity. The striker for his part is studying the best destination to potentially land, and working with Patrick Vieira could prove to be the preferred option.

For now, however, Colombo is in training camp with Milan as the only striker (waiting for Santiago Gimenez and the new signing) and will be evaluated by Massimiliano Allegri. His future, however, will likely be elsewhere.
