Sky: Leao trains separately with Lecce game looking ‘difficult’ – Allegri’s ’emergency’

AC Milan are set to be without Rafael Leao again this weekend, as was initially expected. It is news that is not needed right now.

There has been a delay getting the deal for Conrad Harder over the line, so Milan really need to have a strong attacker list for this weekend. However, they have been dealt some news today that is not great regarding Leao.

Leao trains alone

As Sky report from Milanello, the Portuguese trained away from the group, following the training programme made for him whilst he overcomes his calf issue from the Bari game, as MilanNews relays this afternoon.

Massimiliano Allegri was considering accelarating the programme after the first Serie A game on Saturday. However, this runs the risk of worsening the injury, which helps no one. So, it seems that his chances of appearing against Lecce are ‘difficult’.

As a result, the Italian will have to contend with a frontline ’emergency’ already, with only three forwards available for selection. For this reason, another game in the 3-5-2 is more likely, with Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez leading the line.

For what it is worth, though, there is no point risking the star for one game, when he is almost finished with his recovery programme.
