Sky: Loftus-Cheek to miss Pisa game as muscle issue persists – Sala set for call-up

1 week ago 47

Massimiliano Allegri will be short of options again for the game against Pisa, as Ruben Loftus-Cheek has not recovered.

In his pre-match press conference, Allegri volunteered some information regarding the fitness of two players. He confirmed that Christopher Nkunku has recovered, but Loftus-Cheek would have to be assessed in the final session today.

“Tomorrow Nkunku will be on the bench, today we’ll evaluate Loftus-Cheek. Tomorrow we need to take another step forward,” he said.

RLC verdict arrives

According to what is being reported by Sky, Loftus-Cheek will be unavailable for tomorrow night’s game at San Siro. Unfortunately, the Englishman is still dealing with some discomfort from the muscle strain suffered last week.

In his place, it is likely that the 18-year-old Milan Futuro player Emanuele Sala will be called up, just as he was against Fiorentina. It would be another boost for the young talent, amid news that a contract extension is close to being agreed as well.

Sky add that Nkunku will make his return to the matchday squad, starting on the bench. Santiago Gimenez and Rafael Leao will be the chosen pair up front, while in defence Koni De Winter is expected to be given his first league start.
