Mike Maignan is recovering well after arriving at AC Milan’s preseason training camp with a muscle problem, a report claims.
The first open training session of the 2025 preseason took place on Monday evening for Milan, and there were some interesting signs which we picked out. Among them – as eagle-eyed fans noticed – was the absence of Maignan from the goalkeeping group.
According to the latest from Sky (via MilanPress), the French goalkeeper is currently struggling with a muscle problem, which is preventing him from training and playing (in practice matches) alongside his team-mates.
The report adds that Maignan is doing well and has recovered after the first training sessions, which were conducted separately. In this evening’s session at 18:00 CEST he should be fully functional, including swimming and gym work.

Allegri locks Maignan in
Maignan will remain at Milan, as Massimiliano Allegri confirmed during his press conference introducing him as the new head coach.
“I saw Maignan this morning, I’m very happy that he made this choice to stay. He’s the captain of the team, an international player, one of the best in the world. Well done to the club that convinced him to stay.”
He is also expected to remain as the club captain too, something which will be a continuation from last season but seemed unthinkable a month ago when he was trying to move to Chelsea.
