Massimiliano Allegri will call upon several young players to help flesh out the squad for the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia.
According to the latest from Sky, the flight carrying AC Milan will take off from Malpensa at 16:00 CET in the direction of Riyadh for the Italian Super Cup. As a reminder, the semi-final against Napoli will take place at 20:00 Italian time against the Scudetto holders Napoli on Thursday.
About to depart
The broadcaster confirm that injured Matteo Gabbia and Santiago Gimenez will not be on the flight to the Middle East, while both Youssouf Fofana and Rafael Leao will be present. The French midfielder has fully recovered, while the Portuguese is not yet 100% fit.
Therefore it will be impossible to see Leao start on Thursday in the semi-final against Napoli. At most he could come off the bench, with an eye on the final on the 22nd if Milan were to prevail against Antonio Conte’s men.
Several young players – including Maximilian Ibrahimovic – will be added to the Rossoneri squad given the lack of attacking options. Ibrahimovic is having a good season with Milan Futuro, and might get a chance to follow in his father’s footsteps with an iconic moment in the Super Cup.
In addition to Max, Antonio Vitiello reports that Dutu, Sala, Borsani, Pittarella and Vladimirov will be making the trip.
