AC Milan are about to complete another big sale with Malick Thiaw heading to Newcastle United, taking the proceeds past a new landmark.

As Sky report, the summer started with the sale of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City for a guaranteed €55m (plus bonuses). It continued with the €25m brought in by Theo Hernandez’s move to Al-Hilal.

Then there are the departures of Emerson Royal, Pierre Kalulu, and Alvaro Morata which will bring in over €30m. Thiaw will soon to move to Newcastle, also adding to the list of exits, and meaning Milan will be able to count on a nest egg of over €150m, earned thanks to the summer sales.

In terms of spending so far, Luka Modric and Pietro Terracciano were free transfers. Samuele Ricci came for €23m from Torino, Ardon Jashari for €36m from Club Brugge and Pervis Estupinan for €17m from Brighton.

That means €76m has been spent in transfer fees so far, less than half what has been earned. Koni De Winter should be next for €20m, with a right-back and a striker expected to conclude the window. However, fans are right to demand further investment in the team, given the money brought in.
