Sky: Predicted Milan XI to face Napoli – continuity the key for Allegri

On the eve of the visit of Napoli to San Siro, Massimiliano Allegri has apparently settled on how AC Milan will line up.

Allegri will renew his rivalry with Antonio Conte, with the pair facing each other head to head for the first time in 12 years. The Scudetto win for Napoli last season means that Conte pulled one league title behind his compatriot, and they are favourites to defend, but Milan can send a message.

According to Sky, Allegri will name the same three-man defence of Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic ahead of the goalkeeper and captain Mike Maignan. Alexis Saelemaekers and Pervis Estupinan remain as the wing-backs.

The midfield could be where the game is won and lost. Youssouf Fofana and Adrien Rabiot are expected to be the mezzali either side of the regista Luka Modric, and they will act behind Santiago Gimenez and Christian Pulisic.

Milan will have plenty to bring off the bench, from the midfield duo of Samuele Ricci and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to the forward pairing of Christopher Nkunku and the returning Rafael Leao, back after a month out.

Predicted Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Estupinan; Gimenez, Pulisic.
