SM: Athekame selects Milan number as medical visit is completed – the latest

Thanks to an update from our colleague, we have found out what number Zachary Athekame will wear for AC Milan. 

Today has been a busy day for Athekame. After a flight early this morning, he immediately headed to complete his medical and conduct the final pieces of work before heading to Casa Milan to complete his signing.

According to our colleague Luca Maninetti, the right-back is currently in the process of heading to the headquarters to complete his move to the Rossoneri, as can be seen below.

Athekame’s number

However, some more news has emerged in the past few hours. Despite not officially being a Rossonero just yet, he has already chosen his new number, as our colleague Luca reports from his X account.

Like Alessandro Florenzi and Simon Kjaer, the Swissman has chosen to represent the 24 jersey for the Diavolo, becoming the 12th player to don the number. Since joining Young Boys, this is the number that he has chosen to represent, and it will become his most-used number in his career.

The right-back is expected to sign his deal to officially become a Milanista tonight, with the deal finalised in the region of €10 million. Negotiations did not take long at all, which is only a good thing for all parties.
