AC Milan will be without Rafael Leao for their opening game of the season against Lecce after he underwent tests on a calf issue.
In the 14th minute of the Coppa Italia win over Bari, the first goal of Allegri’s second reign came and it was through Leao. The rather unlikely supplier was Fikayo Tomori who whipped in a beautiful cross from a right-back position, which the Portuguese forward headed home.
However, there was a worrying moment after the goal went in as the Portuguese winger sat down and seemed to suggest that he was struggling with calf pain. He was withdrawn for Santiago Gimenez, and since then there has been worried about his fitness.
According to the results of tests that Leao underwent at Milanello, the former Lille man has an elongation traume to his calf. He will be unavailable for the match against Cremonese at the weekend, and will be evaluated day by day ahead of the trip to Lecce.
