SM: Tests reveal Maignan and Pavlovic have avoided muscle injuries – the latest

Some positive news has arrived this morning regarding the condition of the injured duo Mike Maignan and Strahinja Pavlovic.

During last night’s win over Bologna, there were a couple of worrying moments. Firstly, Pavlovic was taken off at half-time and replaced by Koni De Winter, with news emerging after the game that he felt a problem with his hip flexor and asked to come off.

Then, early in the second half, Maignan hobbled off with what appeared to be a calf problem. A long-term absence was instantly feared when he was seen leaving San Siro on crutches, suggesting a tear of the muscle.

Serious injuries avoided

Many fans were expected bad news from the scans this morning, a multi-week absence as a minimum. However, the tests ruled out any muscle injuries for either player, which is certainly a big relief considering the fears that were circulating after full-time.

The Frenchman and the Serbian will be evaluated day by day, so they will do individual work until deemed fit enough to return to full training with the rest of the squad. Massimiliano Allegri suggested Maignan will not play against Udinese on Saturday, so we must see if that remains the case.
