Massimiliano Allegri’s agent believes that some January reinforcements are needed, but refused to be drawn on which positions.
Given that Milan went into the new season with just 19 outfield players, many consider it a minor miracle that Allegri has managed to get the team into a position whereby they are one point off top spot, a position they held until the weekend.
At present though the lack of depth is striking. Matteo Gabbia’s knee injury means David Odogu is the only remaining back-up, while Rafael Leao and Santiago Gimenez’s simultaneous absence is not helping things in the attacking department either.
On the sidelines of the agents’ meeting at CONI, Giovanni Branchini – who represents Allegri – spoke to calciomercato.it regarding Milan’s possible transfer market moves in January.
“Only the Milan directors know what Milan need, they know the strategies, what the real objectives are and the availability,” he said (via MilanNews).
“We’ve seen that the squad is having some difficulty being competitive, and it’s likely that there’s a need to shore up the team. But I repeat, it’s difficult to make an intelligent comment from the outside; only those in control of the club’s strategy can answer this question intelligently.”
