Milan Futuro failed to build on their recent momentum in Serie D, losing by the odd goal against the rock-bottom team, Sondrio.
Three consecutive defeats in the league were turned into two wins last weekend, as Oddo’s side managed to beat Oltrepò 2-1. As such, they were hoping to complete the full turnaround by making it three consecutive wins today, taking on the rock-bottom side Sondrio.
However, despite controlling much of the game (as you would expect), Milan struggled to create chances at the start of the game. So, against the run of play, it was Sondrio that took the lead thanks to a very good free-kick after 23 minutes.
Aside from a few half-chances, the Rossoneri didn’t really threaten in the first half and thus headed into the break one goal down. Sadly, it was much of the same in the second half as the first proper dangerous chance came in the 82nd minute, when Matteo Dutu headed a corner just wide.
Eight minutes were added on to the game at the end but Milan, once again, failed to make life difficult for the home side. They kept sending balls into the box, but the defence and the goalkeeper were always equal to these attempts. And so, the game ended 1-0.
Sondrio bagged their first win of the season, while Milan once again proved that they lack maturity and, sometimes, composure to make full use of their qualities.
