Sottil outlines what made life hard at Milan and praises ‘mature’ Camarda

Riccardo Sottil has admitted that it is hard to recover if you do not start well at AC Milan, while he praised Francesco Camarda.

It would be fair to say that Sottil’s brief time at Milan was not fruitful for either side. Arriving in January, he was supposed to give a bit of depth on the wings, but was barely used as he played 141 minutes during the second half of the season for the Rossoneri.

Those minutes were spread across eight games, with the Italian also failing to register a single goal contribution. Therefore it was not a surprise when his return to his parent club was officially announced, despite talk of a potential swap involving Yacine Adli.

‘Difficult to recover’

Sottil gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he discussed his new adventure at Lecce, as well as his recent past at Milan including his old but new team-mate Camarda. MilanPress relayed his words.

What didn’t work at Milan?

“When you start badly, it’s difficult to recover. But I see that now they ‘ve recovered. I’ve been a fan of the Rossoneri since I was a child, when I watched Pato and Ronaldinho play, even if my idol is Cristiano Ronaldo. When I faced him in a Juventus -Fiorentina match, I almost fainted!”

You are alongside Camarda again…

“Francesco is a fantastic boy, much more mature than his 17 years. He has incredible potential, he’s already shown it in AC Milan’s youth teams and has already scored here in Lecce. He just needs to stay calm , focus on himself without forcing himself. His path must be natural.”
