Spalletti ‘convinced’ Leao will shine eventually as ‘no one is better than Allegri’

Massimiliano Allegri has many missions for this season, such as finishing inside the top four, while the growth and development of Rafael Leao is another. 

Indeed, with many labelling it a make-or-break season for Leao, it will be up to Allegri to find the best possible position on the pitch. Furthermore, on a mental level, the manager needs to get through to No.10 as the work rate has always been questioned.

Having said all of the above, many believe that if anyone’s going to succeed with Leao, it’s Allegri. The former Italy manager Luciano Spalletti clearly feels the same, asked about Leao’s development during the Festival dello Sport this afternoon (via MilanNews).

“I see Inter and Napoli as favourites until the end for the Scudetto, although Milan have a guarantee: Massimiliano Allegri. Leao? Rafa is a player capable of playing any role; I think he should be given some freedom to express his abilities. No one is better than Allegri at managing and placing players in the right positions and conditions. I’m convinced he’ll be able to do it,” he stated.

Fiorentina are up next for Milan and it remains to be seen if Leao will get the chance from start. Santiago Gimenez hasn’t delivered many goals but he has a decent connection with Christian Pulisic, while hard work certainly isn’t lacking from him either.
