‘Still looks like he’s 20’ – Roma star full of praise for Milan maestro Modric

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini has offered high praise to Luka Modric, who he insists is still playing as if he’s half his actual age.

Modric has been revolutionary for Milan in his first few months, bringing not only technical quality and winning experience but also leadership and a level of standards that seems to be bringing the best out of his new team-mates too.

There is already speculation about his future beyond this season and a possible return to Real Madrid in some capacity. For now, though, Milan fans – and fans of other clubs for that matter – can enjoy seeing a master at work, as Mancini will later this month when Roma face the Rossoneri.

Mancini was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport and the centre-back was asked to pick out a couple of players in Serie A that have stood out to him, and MilanPress relayed his response.

“For a youngster, I’d say Leoni, even though he’s gone, but he was here until a few months ago. A strong lad, a defender with quality: I send him a hug [after his ACL injury].

“Modric, on the other hand, still looks like he’s 20. If he’s still playing at this level at his age, it means we’re talking about a top, top, top player.”
