Supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s chances of top four finish after defeat to Chelsea

Opta’s Supercomputer has revised its predicted Premier League table on the back of the latest round of results, and it does not make for pretty reading for Tottenham.

Given how poor Spurs have been as an attacking force over the last few weeks, many Tottenham fans would have thought the only way from there is up.

However, the Lilywhites proved them wrong on Saturday, delivering what was the most meek display at home that supporters have seen for a long time.

Spurs registered an xG of just 0.05 against Chelsea, which is their lowest tally ever in a Premier League game since they started recording the stat.

Opta predicts bottom-half finish for Tottenham this season

Following the 3-0 win over Everton last Sunday, Opta’s supercomputer had Tottenham finishing in eighth place with 58.13 points.

However, their latest debacle on Saturday has seen the club drop three places in the prediction table.

In their revised prediction, Opta’s website has the Lilywhites finishing in 11th place with 55.5 points this season.

That is certainly not a table that Thomas Frank will want to look at, and the pressure will start building on the Dane if he does not manage to turn the team’s performances around.

Spurs are major outsiders for European qualification

Opta now believes that Tottenham are rank outsiders for a Champions League spot, with the club handed just a 10.97 per cent chance of qualifying for Europe’s premier club tournament.

In fact, according to the website’s calculation, the North Londoners only have a 17.95 per cent chance of finishing within the Europa League places.

If that is what plays out over the coming months, one would think that Frank’s position would come under serious scrutiny.
