Tare discusses Leao-Allegri relationship, faith in Gimenez and need for consistency

AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has stressed his great faith in Santiago Gimenez, and admitted playing once a week will help the team.

Juventus and Milan renew their historic rivalry tonight at the Allianz Stadium, with the former hoping to keep their 10-game league unbeaten run going, and the latter hoping for a win that would put them back top of the table.

The Bianconeri got the better of this fixture last season, with a 0-0 draw at San Siro followed by a 2-0 win in Turin back in January. That night, Samuel Mbangula and Tim Weah got the goals, as the Rossoneri entered a bit of a dip under Sergio Conceicao.

Now things are a bit different though and confidence is flowing under Massimiliano Allegri, who makes a return to the Stadium and the club that he has called home in two separate stints, as Adrien Rabiot and Koni De Winter have too.

Tare spoke to DAZN not long before kick-off and he was asked about various different topics, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

What do you think of Leao’s style of communication? How is his relationship with Allegri?

“Compared to our times, the world of communication has changed completely. Players interact with fans through social media, but as long as they respect the rules established with their respective teams, anything is possible now. Leao enjoys doing these things.

“As for the relationship between Leao and Allegri, a good feeling was immediately born between them. Max is a coach who knows how to motivate and bring out the best in every player. For us, he’s a key player who must give his all. We’re currently trying to get him back from this long injury.”

Santiago Gimenez is starting again…

“He’s grown so much physically, especially this week. He’s been a great surprise in training because he’s feeling good, you can feel it and see it.

“We have a lot of faith in him, and he feels it not only from us but also from his team-mates, so I’m confident he’ll have a great game tonight and, why not, even score his first league goal.”

How important is it for Milan to not be busy in midweeks at this stage of your project?

“It helps us a lot. We’re able to prepare for matches as well as possible, and we also work individually with the players. It’s crucial to start off well as we have, but we still have a long way to go.

“The current situation is great and helps you work hard, but we know we need to be consistent. The league is very tough, and there are many teams with very important goals.”
