Tare offers update on possible Camarda recall and Maignan’s renewal: “In the next few weeks”

AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has claimed that an answer could arrive soon from Mike Maignan, while common sense must prevail in the Francesco Camarda case.

Milan are under pressure to win yet again after both Inter and Napoli emerged victorious against Udinese and Sassuolo respectively on Saturday, and both were 1-0 scorelines too.

This will actually be the third meeting of the season between Milan and a Lecce side that are in a relegation battle. The first ended 0-2 in favour of the Diavolo as goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic secured the win.

This was followed up by a convincing 3-0 win in the Coppa Italia game at San Siro, with Santiago Gimenez, Christopher Nkunku and Pulisic all scoring. Tonight is a different game, with the objective being to follow up the impressive comeback in Como.

‘I’m always positive’

Tare spoke to DAZN not long before kick-off at San Siro and he answered questions on Maignan’s renewal, the possible recall of Camarda and other topical issues. MilanNews transcribed what he had to say.

Sticchi Damiani says that for them, nothing changes regarding Camarda. What’s your position?

“We’ll talk to them about it after the game. There’s common sense on both sides, we’ll see what to do after the game.”

Will you be looking for a central defender?

“There’s no point in repeating myself. We’ll definitely be paying attention to the market. If there’s something that can help us, we’ll do it if necessary. For now, we’re fine as we are.”

Maignan’s renewal – how long until we get there?

“We just need to sit down and talk and then we’ll try to find a solution. Mike is very attached to this shirt and this club, and the club has the will to move forward. I think within… soon, in the next few weeks, I think I’ll have a definitive answer. But I’m always positive about this story.”
