The five players that Allegri used the most during Milan’s pre-season

The pre-season has come to an end and the real deal will start for AC Milan tomorrow. That being said, it’s worth looking back at the summer to see which players Max Allegri used the most.

While the pre-season tends to differ quite a lot from the proper campaign, with player vacations and signings often resulting in less competitive squads, it does say something about the manager’s preferences. This summer, for example, Allegri relied on a few players in particular.

Since it’s the pre-season, there are no fancy stats sites that show minutes collected, so we have taken it upon ourselves to do so (it should be correct!). As expected, the players who were with the team from the start also got the most minutes.

Top 5 most used players in pre-season

Yunus Musah came out on top with an impressive 286 minutes, and what pushed him over the edge was the fact that he played against both Leeds United and Chelsea. Yes, the games that were a day apart (albeit only 45 minutes in each).

Davide Bartesaghi was another player who Allegri relied on a lot, not just on the left flank but also in defence sometimes. Then, the standouts (you could say) from the pre-season are next: Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

  1. Musah: 286 minutes
  2. Bartesaghi: 277
  3. Leao: 276
  4. Saelemaekers: 267
  5. Loftus-Cheek: 258

It’s also the last three players who are expected to start against Bari tomorrow, in the first competitive game of the 2025-26 season.
