The only quadruple Arsenal are heading for is a fourth runners-up finish after Wolves nightmare

Arsenal's draw at Wolves has changed everything for Mikel Arteta's sides title hopes as questions and criticism reach their peak

Disgraceful. This is one of the worst Premier League sides ever and might go on to become the worst if Wolves gain fewer than Derby County’s 11 points; but this Arsenal team conspired a way to drop points.

It might be the worst display I have seen watching the Gunners under Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard spent the second half from minute 45 to minute 93, arms flapping up and down like a schoolchild in a playground trying to fly.

What the head coach was actually doing was trying to get his players to calm down and find some composure. Yet, unlike that child who would never take off, any ball that found its way to the feet of an Arsenal player would be punted into the air, as far away from David Raya's goal as they could muster, only to see it come back with what would be devastating ramifications.

It showcased the emotional fragility the side still has, a lack of belief, and almost a dizziness at the heights they could have reached; a seven-point lead fading away into the snowy Molineux haze.

Arteta said post-match that his side have to "take the bullet" from those preparing a barrage of criticism for his side.

"I think any question, any criticism, any opinion, you have to take it on the chin today," he said. "That's it. Any bullet, take it, because we didn't perform at the level that is required."

The idea of Arsenal not winning the Premier League this season is too difficult to even conceive at the moment. That might appear entitled, and I would empathise with anyone thinking so. Right now, it is not as if the Gunners are deserving of the title.

Two wins from their last seven is by no means the form of champions. So many games have felt like slogs. From the reverse fixture against Wolves, to the last game against Brentford, defeat to Manchester United, the draw at Nottingham Forest, the win at Bournemouth, beating Brighton, Everton, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Newcastle all by a single goal.

And that chant… it's following them like a bad smell. Can you imagine what the derby is going to be like from minute one?

I felt for those fans, sitting in the crowd. My fingers were frozen while typing, but the idea of someone having travelled and paid for their ticket, standing in the snow as they watch their side shoot themselves in the foot for the umpteenth time?

Sunday is either going to be the making or breaking of this title run-in. Arsenal have to win, and if they don't, my belief that they will go on to win it will have reached a precipice, and I do not know what will happen next.

Some have been discussing quadruples? Quadruples…

The only quadruple on the cards right now feels like a fourth, second-place finish in a row. Please, prove me wrong.
