Yacine Adli asked Fiorentina not to buy him permanently because he had a plan in mind involving AC Milan, it is claimed.
One week ago, Al-Shabab confirmed that they had signed Adli from Milan on a permanent deal that is expected to be worth €8m. It brought an end to a summer-long mystery regarding the midfielder’s fate, and Adli will get a nice tripling of his salary.
The Frenchman spent last season on loan with Fiorentina, where he racked up five goals and seven assists in 35 games across all competitions. Those are not bad numbers, so many thought it were strange that a permanent deal was never on the cards.
Adli’s request
Now, Matteo Moretto has revealed an interesting bit of background about what happened with La Viola, including a request from the player that impacted his future.

“Adli’s final salary at Al-Shabab is €6m net. Two Italian clubs, Sassuolo and Torino, particularly interested in him in the summer, but the player wasn’t convinced by either option,” he said (via MilanNews).
“I’ll tell you an anecdote, because it was actually the boy who asked Fiorentina towards the end of last season not to buy him. His idea was to try to return to Milan and continue there; he wanted to do everything he could to earn a place in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad. This didn’t happen.”
