Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr missed the Carabao Cup third round win over Doncaster Rovers due to a "minor" thigh strain.
Spurs barely broke into a sweat as they eased into the fourth round with a 3-0 win over Doncaster on Wednesday night. Boss Thomas Frank had promised to have a decent crack at the competition this season and he was as good as his word as Joao Palhinha’s improvised strike, a Jay McGrath own goal and Brennan Johnson’s stoppage-time breakaway disposed of League One Rovers.
Sarr was absent from the squad, however, which was a surprise given he remained on the bench during the 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend. The midfielder has already made six appearances for the Lilywhites this season and has one goal and one assist to his name.
Speaking after the Carabao Cup win, Frank admitted the former Metz man has picked up a minor thigh issue. The Spurs boss told the media: "Pape Matar Sarr just a minor precaution.
"A minor, how can you say, a little stretch to the thigh so we didn’t want to take any risks today. There is a good chance that he could be ready for Saturday."
Tottenham are next in action against Wolves on Saturday, with the match scheduled to kick-off at 8pm.
