Massimiliano Allegri received a red card in the dying moments of AC Milan’s 1-0 win against Lazio. As a result, he will miss at least one game and his assistant Marco Landucci will have to take over his duties once again.
It was deep into stoppage time that Allegri saw red on Saturday evening, saying some well-chosen words to the referee Giuseppe Collu. It was a reaction to the on-field review that nearly resulted in a penalty for Lazio, despite it not being a punishable handball from Strahinja Pavlovic.
As a result of the red card, Allegri will miss the next league game against Torino, which is scheduled for Monday, December 8. It’s possible that the ban could be even longer, depending on what the referee puts in his report, but it will be at least one game.
Landucci’s impressive record
Without Allegri in the dugout, his assistant Marco Landucci will lead the team. It has already happened three times before this season, first against Bari in the Coppa Italia, then against Udinese in the league, and finally against Lecce in the Coppa Italia.
Allegri missed the Coppa Italia games due to a previous two-game ban that he received after his final game for Juventus. The Udinese clash, meanwhile, was missed due to the red card he received against Bologna – when he threw off his jacket in anger.
The good news is that Milan won all three of the aforementioned games: 2-0 against Bari, 3-0 against Udinese and 3-0 against Lecce. In other words, Landucci has a fantastic record as the temporary manager of Milan.
