Ardon Jashari has thanked Club Brugge for the role they played in his development, but insisted it was time for the ‘next step’.

Jashari is officially a new Milan player after weeks of negotiations that threatened to be never-ending at various points. The Swiss international put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Rossoneri, and the fee is reported to be €39m including bonuses.

Jashari says goodbye

Club Brugge said their own farewell to Jashari in two posts on their social media accounts, and the player wanted to express some thanks in return.

“A lot has been said and written in recent weeks. And what I have to say is simple: Thank you. Thank you, Club Brugge. Thank you to the fans, my teammates, the management, this wonderful city, and every single person who gave me the trust to perform at my best.

“Over the past year, I gave everything for the Blauw-Zwart shirt. Yes, I received individual awards, but nothing compares to what we achieved together. Lifting the cup in Brussels, as one team, one club, was the most rewarding moment.

“The derby win is another memory I’ll never forget, The past few weeks have been intense, for all of us. But today, I leave with nothing but gratitude. Now, it’s time for the next step in my career.

“With love, Ardon.”

It is just over 12 months ago that Jashari moved to the Belgian giants, leaving FC Luzern in his home country. He made 52 appearances and scored four goals for Brugge, winning the Belgian Cup as he mentions.
