TMW: Galatasaray try for Milan star Maignan while in Italy – the response

After Chelsea’s attempt to land Mike Maignan came and went, Galatasaray are the latest club to try and test AC Milan’s resolve.

As TMW report, Galatasaray are on a mission to Italy to try to finalise the permanent acquisition of Victor Osimhen from Napoli and also resolve the future of Alvaro Morata, who seems to be Como-bound. They are in search of a goalkeeper and they are trying for Maignan.

However, at the moment the Frenchman does not appear to be willing to move, and contacts are not progressing. Having arrived at Milan in the summer of 2021 to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, Maignan only has one more year left on his contract with the Rossoneri.

At a crossroads

As things currently stand, the former Lille man will be free to reach agreements with other clubs to move on a free transfer next summer starting from next February 1st. The management though have made it clear they wish to try and renew his deal.

In recent days, the new head coach Massimiliano Allegri expressed his opinion on Maignan’s decision to stay at Milan, making it clear that he will remain at least for 2025-26.

“I’m happy that Maignan has chosen to stay. He will be the captain, he’s an important player and one of the best in Europe in his position. The club did very well to convince him to stay,” he said.
