AC Milan are one of the clubs in the running for Zion Suzuki of Parma, though they have not yet settled on him as Mike Maignan’s replacement.
Maignan’s current deal less than a year left, which means that as things stand he will be departing on a free transfer at the end of the season. It seems as though talks over a renewal have not gone positively, and thus Milan need to plan for life with a new number one between the sticls.
Among the names that has been mentioned to become the Rossoneri’s new No.1 is Suzuki. A report from Tuttosport over the weekend stated that technical director Geoffrey Moncada watched him first hand as he saved a last-minute penalty to earn Parma a draw against Genoa.
Suzuki to replace Maignan?
In an editorial for TMW, Niccolò Ceccarini commented on Maignan’s future and who the management might turn to in order to replace him.
“The renewal issue hasn’t made any progress so far, so the Rossoneri are looking around to see what the best alternative might be. Among the various options is Suzuki. Parma are well aware that it will be difficult to keep him next summer, given the increasingly loud market buzz.
“Inter are also among the contenders in Italy, but Chelsea are also considering him abroad. Milan are in the running, although they’re waiting to see what Parma’s room for manoeuvre and demands might be.”
